Lawrence I'Anson was born 21 April 1907 in Portsmouth, Va. to James and Emma Warren I'Anson. He graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1928 and took his law degree from the University of Virginia. In 1933, he married Mary Frances Tuttle. I'Anson served as Commonwealth's Attorney for Portsmouth, Va. He was appointed judge of the Hustings Court for Portsmouth. In 1958, J.
